Despite having mentioned it late last year, I’ve been continuing to work on new material for the Peregrination album, which is now longer going to be called that. I’ve actually created a lot of material for the album this year, and it looks like it’s going to end up being a double album at this rate. I’ve recently been on a one-track-a-day routine as part of some OCD self-help, keeping things structured and not allowing myself to worry too much about whether the album is finished or not for the minute. Focusing wholly on one piece at a time has resulted in some work I’m really proud of, and I’m genuinely excited about where this album is going. I’m using lots of samples. I’ll keep working on that for a while and I’m sure you’ll all hear it next June or something knowing the usual process.
Otherwise, Exteriors and Arboretum are still lined up ready to go, the former at some point in late spring and the latter in late ’18/early ’19. That’s still a lot of albums. Meanwhile, it’s spring, and I’m going to be going outside a lot because the outside is a good place to be.
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Nurse With Wound and Stephan Micus and really early vaporwave.
Ok, so the situation with the album has finally been resolved. The contract situation with Psychonavigation has been sorted out and the album will be staying with the label until the contract runs out next year. That’s available from the usual places. I’ll then be selling the Ambisphere cassettes once the contract has ended.
In other news, there should be two more records at some point this year. I can only reveal the titles at the moment: Arboretum and Exteriors. Both are very different from each other, although the latter recalls a couple of particular albums from my past. I’ll have release details for those closer to the time, but it looks like at least one should be something quite special.
My main focus at the minute is basically getting better after some serious mental health issues so far this year. One of the changes I’ve decided to make is spending less time online, particularly on social media, which I find is often more damaging than it is helpful these days. I’m off Twitter – my account is being used as a personal one now, rather than a music-related one, so I’ve kept that to just a small number of personal friends. Facebook and my blog will have any news and updates still though.
Lately I’ve been listening to Eberhard Weber, Tangerine Dream and Nurse With Wound, and I’m just starting to break into a six disc set of Samuel Barber’s complete orchestral works, which should be interesting.
